Students at Calasiao Comprehensive National High School continued going to school this week even after strong winds from Super Typhoon #UwanPH toppled several trees and damaged the roof of one of its buildings.

School staff already completed clearing operations, removing fallen trees around the affected classrooms. While the roof was torn, the ceiling remained intact, allowing Grade 7 and Grade 8 students to keep using the rooms.

Teacher Evelyn Raymundo said the classrooms are still usable during good weather.

“Okay na makapag-klase sila dito, okay pa naman ito, basta huwag lang umulan,” she said.

School officials said they are prioritizing student safety. Principal Dr. Carina Untalasco assured that they have contingency plans.

“Kung uulan, ilipat namin sila sa library. Doon muna sila magklase,” she said.

For now, the school has no available funds to repair the damaged roof. The principal said they are coordinating with groups that may provide assistance for rehabilitation.

“As of now, hindi kaya ng MOOE ang repair kasi major repair ang need doon,” Untalasco said.

The school continues to inspect other classrooms to assess their condition after the storm.
