Three separate fire incidents in Negros Occidental and Iloilo left behind over P1.6 million in damages.

A fire struck a house in Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City. The house was owned by a certain Jerwin Montaño. The residents ran out of the house immediately.

“Pag-on, nakarinig ako ng ingay. Parang hangin, pinakinggan ko. Isang kasama ko ang umakyat sa taas, doon niya nadiskubre ang apoy na makapal na ang usok,” Montaño said.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire started at the second floor of the house.

“Na-find out na may wiretapping between two neighbors. Nag-overheat,” said Fire Insp. Jemarie Tapiru, deputy fire marshal of BFP Bacolod City.

The fire left behind over P1 million in damages.

Further, a fire also struck a house owned by a certain Lucero family in Barangay Rizal, Silay City. The fire spread quickly to other parts of the house. The house was made of light materials.

Damage was reported to be worth over P80,000.

“Pagdating namin, gumuho na ang bahay. Konti na lang ang natirang apoy. Under investigation pa,” according to FO1 Ruzel Ornada, Silay City BFP investigator.

Meanwhile, a fire hit a house in Sitio Lanag Housing in Barangay PD Monfort North, Dumangas, Iloilo. The fire broke out morning on November 18, 2025, that started at a house owned by a certain Magbato family.

The house was gutted totally. The fire also spread to the kitchen of an adjacent house.

BFP has considered the fire to be electrical in nature, among other possibilities.

Damage reached over P540,000.

“Sa electrical, ngunit posible pa na magbago dahil ongoing pa ang ating investigation,” according to SFO2 Yuhlen Demagajes, chief investigator of BFP Dumangas.
