Children at Osiem Elementary School in Mangaldan, Pangasinan received school supplies meant to help them recover after Super Typhoon #UwanPH damaged many of their belongings.
Around 150 students from preschool to Grade 6 received paper, pencils, and ballpens through a gift-giving program organized for the school’s most indigent learners.
“‘Yung matulungan talaga ‘yung mga indigent students… From Kinder to Grade 6, pumili lang kami ng tig-5 na most indigent,” Winalyn Tandingan, Grade 6 adviser at Osiem Elementary School, said.
School officials said many students lost or soaked their notebooks and learning materials during the recent storm, making the donations especially timely.
After the gift distribution, volunteers also served meals to all 270 students in the school as part of a feeding program supported by parents.
“Nagkusang-loob na magbigay ng feeding from the whole population from Grade 1 to Grade 6.
The simple act of giving, teachers said, helped ease the stress and loss the children experienced after the super typhoon.
