An alleged crocodile spotted in the Mananga River stirred residents in Talisay City, Cebu. The stir was created by a video posted by a netizen on alleged presence of a crocodile in the river and called on action from the authorities.
However, the video did not show of any crocodile. When the netizen was asked, he clarified that he has not seen any crocodile. He pointed out that he only overheard two persons mentioning of a shape in the river that resembles a crocodile.
City Councilor Danny Caballero, chairman of the Committee on Resiliency, said they ordered an inspection on the particular area.
The Talisay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office disclosed that Crocolandia, a wildlife sanctuary in Barangay Biasong, informed them that none of the crocodiles escaped during the massive flooding on November 4, 2025.
“We’ve seen a post circulating about an “escaped crocodile,” and we want to assure everyone that this information is FALSE,” Crocolandia said in a post on November 19, 2025.
“Our Crocolandia team personally checked the area shown in the video and also spoke with the person who uploaded it. He confirmed that he did not see any crocodile himself — he only heard the claim from a neighbor. After thoroughly inspecting the surroundings, no crocodile was found,” the post added.
“All animals in Crocolandia remain safe, secure, and well cared for. Our zookeepers are onsite daily, making sure every animal is monitored, healthy, and accounted for. Your safety — and the well-being of our animals — will always be our top priority. Thank you to everyone who reached out with concern. We appreciate your support and encourage everyone to verify information before sharing,” Crocolandia said further.
