The bright Christmas display outside the Subic Municipal Hall went dark briefly after a portion of its light decorations caught fire on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

Witnesses said one section of the lights sparked before it burned, but personnel from the Subic Public Order and Safety Office quickly put out the fire and turned off the entire display as a precaution.

Only the wires were damaged, and no other Christmas decorations or structures were affected. The fire was contained before it spread.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reminded the public to stay careful when installing holiday decorations at home and in establishments to avoid similar incidents.

SFO1 Jeannette M. Fomera, Chief of the Fire Safety Enforcement Section, urged the public to check their holiday lights and sockets.
