Love filled the town of Jaen, Nueva Ecija, as 27 couples said “I do” together in a mass civil wedding. The event gave many couples a chance to make their long-time relationships legal ahead of Christmas.
Among those married were 71-year-old Danilo and 64-year-old Mercedita, who have lived together for 43 years and have five children, all with families of their own. They said the wedding was a special gift, as it finally made their union legal.
The youngest couple to marry were both 18 years old, Herland and Camille.
The Philippine Statistics Authority said marriage is important not only for couples but also for their children, as it helps establish their legal status.
Aside from food and gifts, wedding sponsors also shared reminders with the couples about building a happy and strong marriage.
