Acting Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte led the exchange of vows of more than 200 couples during the Kasalan Sa Pasko at the Davao City Recreation Center.

According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, around 40 of the couples who took part in the mass wedding ceremony were from Indigenous Peoples (IP) communities.

Duterte underscored the importance of marriage, saying that a strong marriage builds a solid foundation for the family, community, and the city.

The city’s top official also urged the newly wed couples to support and help one another to maintain a healthy and lasting relationship.

Duterte also extended his Christmas wishes to the newlyweds, hoping they would have prosperous, happy, and peaceful married lives.

After the ceremony, the couples received Noche Buena package and financial assistance.
