At least 133 families in Talisay City, Cebu displaced by a flash flood received Christmas gifts from private groups that learned of the situation via GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak news reports.
Despite the scorching heat on the day of the distribution of Christmas gifts, the evacuees dwelling in a designated Tent City in Talisay offer the sweetest smiles, especially mothers who lined up to receive their five-kilo rice.
The private group headed by Minglanilla Councilor Jay-R dela Calzada said that the money used to purchase the bags of rice is sent by a Filipina abroad who was touched by news reports on the displaced individuals via GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak reports.
A total of 125 tents have been pitched in Purok Kawayan, Barangay San Roque, but there is one tent with two families sharing, not exceeding six individuals in a tent.
It was learned that power is available in the tent city for the evacuees’ mini fans. However, it is apparently difficult to live in a tent when the weather is too hot; likewise, on rainy days.
In spite of their predicament, the tent city dwellers, such as Andia Ramos, express gratitude to individuals who have thought of them in carrying out gift-giving activities.
The flash flood was triggered by Typhoon Tino (Kalmaegi) on November 4, 2025.
