A father-and-son duo dressed as Santa Claus distributed gifts and food packs to residents in Davao City on Christmas Eve.
Former Barangay 5A chairman Edgar Ibuyan, Sr. and his son, City Councilor Ragde Niño Ibuyan, donned Santa Claus costumes and handed out Christmas food packs to the community.
Residents lined up to receive the food packs.
“Nakita nato bitaw ang smile sa mga tao. So happy kaayo mi, ang among obligasyon every christmas amo ning pagatumanon. Mao raman sab ang naandan namo, padayon lang gyud mi,” the elder Ibuyan said.
The roads also came alive as the two conducted a motorcade while distributing gifts.
The younger Ibuyan said the Christmas outreach has been a tradition of their family for more than two decades.
“Since three or four years old pa ko, we’ve been this kauban si papa. So, mao to dili gyud mawala ang feeling sa ka-happy when you’re able to share your blessings sa katawhan and, of course, and smile pud sa ilang nga nawong makita pud nimo,” the younger Ibuyan added.
Meanwhile, around 12,000 fishermen in Davao City’s First District also received Christmas food packs as part of a holiday outreach program for coastal and fishing communities led by Rep. Paolo Duterte, Rep. Harold Duterte, and acting Vice Mayor Rigo Duterte II.
Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the food packs, especially as fish catch has reportedly been limited in recent weeks.
