A woman in Mandaue City was wounded due to the impact of a “lantaka" blast, or an improvised cannon used as a noisemaker for the Christmas revelry.

The 48-year-old victim was rushed to the Mandaue City Hospital after she was hurt in the blast past 12 a.m. on Christmas Day.

The victim was outside of her house indulged in merrymaking when the incident happened.

During the blast, the impact sent a stone hurtling reportedly toward the woman. She sustained injury on the right thigh.

According to the Mandaue Police, the victim did not pursue the filing of a complaint against the juveniles who were playing with the “lantaka,” citing it was only a slight injury.
