Areas in Banga town, Province of Aklan were flooded during a heavy rainfall dawn on Monday, January 12, 2026.
The affected areas are in Barangays Libas, Pagsanghan, Poblacion, and Palale.
According to Banga Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), the rainfall started past midnight. Floodwater on the national highway in Barangay Libas, Banga reached a depth of about six feet.
The national highway was impassable for about four hours; vehicles were stranded as there is no diversion road in the area.
The floodwater started to recede by 7 a.m.
Three families from Barangay Libas were evacuated.
“Palagi na lang binabaha. Yan talaga ang problema dito kapag umuulan nang malakas,” Dodong Rufin, team leader of Banga MDRRMO, said.
