Authorities in Barangay Nalsian, Calasiao, Pangasinan are strengthening security and disaster monitoring with the expansion of their closed-circuit television (CCTV) system, allowing round-the-clock surveillance across all sitios in the community.

Barangay officials said CCTV cameras are now installed at all entry and exit points, making it easier to monitor people coming in and out of the area. The system operates 24/7 and helps authorities quickly review footage in case of thefts, incidents, or other crimes.

“Para ma-monitor natin ang mga sitio kasi dati may mga nakawan. At least makikita natin kung saan-saan sila dadaan,” Barangay Councilman Ramilo Bravo said.

Aside from crime prevention, officials said the CCTV system is also useful during disasters such as flooding. With live feeds, barangay leaders can immediately identify flooded areas and determine which residents need urgent assistance.

Despite the improved monitoring system, barangay officials said they continue to conduct regular patrols to ensure safety on the ground.

“Kahit naman may CCTV talagang mag-iikot pa rin kami,” Bravo said.

Residents like Marilyn Cruz welcomed the additional security measures. She said the presence of CCTV cameras gives them peace of mind.

“Maganda ‘yan, maayos kasi at least may mga nakabantay sa amin,” she said.

From an initial 20 CCTV cameras, Barangay Nalsian now has more than 40 units installed. The barangay council said it plans to add five more cameras.
