The completion of the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) is in the offing, following another groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
Works on the city hospital were ordered stalled by Mayor Nestor Archival in 2025 to ensure sound technical plans.
Works on Phase 5 aim for the completion of the fourth floor to the seventh floor.
The ceremony started with a prayer and the blessing of the entire fifth floor, followed by the ceremonial turning-on of the cement mixer, and the pouring of concrete.
The P700-million project is set to be completed by December 2026.
From a 150-bed capacity, it is the goal of the Cebu City Government to increase capacity to 400 beds.
Aside from project completion, the Cebu City Government seeks to attend to the zero-balance billing program of the national government.
Further, Archival mulls on the rectification of the first to third floors of the city hospital.
