The 11th Philippine Robothon National Competition concluded successfully at the University of San Agustin in Iloilo City, bringing together 114 teams from across the Philippines in a vibrant celebration of robotics, innovation, and STEAM excellence.

With the theme “ROBOKAMPYON: Paglinang ng Talento, Kasanayan, at Kaalaman para sa Makabagong Edukasyon,” this year’s Robothon emphasized the transformative role of robotics and innovation in shaping future-ready Filipino learners — equipped not only with technical skills and knowledge, but also with the values essential in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE IN ROBOTICS AND INNOVATION 

After a full day of intense competition, collaboration, and creativity, the following teams emerged as champions in their respective categories:

  • Innovative Open Category – People’s Choice Award: Brokenshire College - Toril – Robo Aces – Aquila (H08)
  • Mini Robot Challenge – Primary: St. Mary's College Inc. Quezon City – Ignacian Little Thinkers (A03)
  • Mini Robot Challenge – Middle: San Beda College Alabang – Robo Cubs A (B08)
  • Mini Robot Challenge – Junior: Malayan High School of Science – MHSS Team 1 (C05)
  • Mini Robot Challenge – Senior: Brokenshire College - Toril – Robo Aces Orion (D18)
  • Innovative Open Category – Primary: St. Mary's College Inc. Quezon City – Marian Vexmates (E01)
  • Innovative Open Category – Middle: University of San Agustin – San Ag Unitas Prime Sparks (F03)
  • Innovative Open Category – Junior: San Beda College Alabang – YEY! (G02)
  • Innovative Open Category – Senior: San Beda College Alabang – Team Palad (H14)

The competition showcased not only technical excellence but also teamwork, innovation, research- based problem solving, and real-world application of robotics concepts.

DISTINGUISHED GUESTS AND KEYNOTE MESSAGE

The event was graced by Rev. Fr. Arnel Dizon, OSA, President of the University of San Agustin, together with university officials. Also present were Mr. Willard Paras, General Manager of First Eduspec, Inc., and Mr. Don Timothy Buhain, CEO of Rex Education.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Narcy Ador Dionisio, Executive Director of the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP), who underscored the importance of robotics and innovation in strengthening Philippine education amid global competition and rapid technological advancement. He emphasized that schools must move beyond traditional models and embrace innovation-driven programs that cultivate critical thinking, creativity, and computational skills.

RIGOROUS AND COLLABORATIVE JUDGING 

The Mini Robot Challenge was led by experts from Iloilo Science and Technology University.

Meanwhile, the Innovative Open Category entries were evaluated by a distinguished panel of 10 judges from:

  • Iloilo Science and Technology University
  • Aklan State University
  • West Visayas State University
  • Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Iloilo Chapter

Their expertise ensured that projects were assessed not only for technical accuracy but also for innovation, scalability, sustainability, and real-world relevance.

THIRD STEAM ED CONFERENCE: EMPOWERING EDUCATORS

Running alongside the competition was the 3rd STEAM Ed Conference, a parallel event for educators, school leaders, and robotics coaches. With the theme “Beyond Compliance: Designing Future-Ready Schools with STEAM, Robotics, and Evidence-Based Teaching,” the conference focused on strategic and sustainable STEAM implementation.

The conference was headlined by Mr. Jose Allan Arellano, former Executive Director of CEAP and educator-consultant of Rex Education, who challenged schools to move from compliance-driven initiatives to purposeful, research-based educational transformation.

As the curtains closed on this year’s Robothon, one message resonated strongly: robotics education is no longer optional — it is essential. Through competitions like the Philippine Robothon, Filipino learners are empowered to become innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders ready to thrive in the demands of the 21st century.

The 11th Philippine Robothon National Competition once again affirmed its mission —developing true ROBOKAMPYON who will shape the future of Philippine education and nation-building.
