The Land Transportation Office in Dagupan City will offer a free Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) for women this weekend as part of the country’s observance of National Women’s Month.
The program will be held by the Land Transportation Office Dagupan District Office to help women learn the basics of driving and road safety. The TDC is a classroom-based seminar that teaches participants about safe driving practices and traffic rules.
Officials said the program is especially helpful for low-income earners because the training is free and promotes safer roads.
“Ang mga magiging impact nito is, safer drivers, safer roads, safer community,” Romel Dawaton, chief of the LTO Dagupan District Office, said.
The LTO needs at least 200 participants for the free course. Attendees will undergo 15 hours of study and training.
Officials said the program is also open to people who already have driver’s licenses but want a refresher course. Men may also join if there are still available slots.
“Hindi naman natin binabawal. Puwede naman silang mag-sit-in para ma-enhance lalo ‘yung road safety awareness nila,” Dawaton added.
One participant, lady rider Catherine Flores, said she learned how to ride a motorcycle from her husband but still wants formal training to improve her driving skills.
“Kasi hindi ko pa masyado gamay ‘yung mga kailangang pindutin. Kung paano ako liliko, kung saan ako pupuwesto just in case may makasalubong akong mga sasakyan,” she said.
Applicants must be at least 16 years old and must bring identification documents such as a PSA birth certificate, PSA marriage certificate, national ID, or passport.
The free Theoretical Driving Course will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 7 and 8, 2026.
