Residents of one barangay in Bacolod City were caught on camera throwing their trash in the neighboring barangay.
Closed circuit television (CCTV) camera footage from May 25 and 26, 2026 showed residents of Barangay 29 dumping their trash by the road in Barangay 30.
These activities would happen at dawn.
“Ewan, hindi ko maintindihan ang mga barangay official ng Barangay 29 kung bakit hindi sila nakikipagtulungan sa amin para masolusyunan ang ganitong problema,” said Jelo Jorolan, chairman of the committee on health and sanitation of Barangay 30.
Narda Pascua, the captain of Barangay 29, said they have actually called their residents out but cannot monitor their activities all the time, especially at dawn.
“Siguro, hindi naman namin ma-monitor kung madaling araw. Ina-admit at pinagsasabihan naman namin na huwag nang magtapon kasi may dumping site or area sa aming barangay,” she said.
With Barangay 29 residents admitting to the act, Pascua is set to call those responsible to the barangay for a conversation.
As of this writing, the Bacolod City Environment and Natural Resources Office is yet to issue a statement on the matter.
The Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 prohibits the throwing or dumping of garbage in public places, including roads, sidewalks, and canals.
