Residents and motorists in Mangaldan, Pangasinan are expected to see safer nighttime travel after the installation of new solar-powered streetlights on Embarcadero Bridge.

A total of 24 solar lights have been installed along the bridge, providing wider illumination and improving visibility for vehicles and pedestrians passing through the area at night.

Bryan Calansanan, a resident, said the new lighting has made a noticeable difference, with the lights brightening nearly the entire span of the bridge.

“Maliwanag naman po sa gabi, sir. Yung liwanag niya po kumakalat sa buong tulay. Mataas yung ilaw kaya maliwanag.” he said.

Calansanan added that the project could help reduce road accidents.

“Maganda naman, Sir, kasi parang maliwanag yung dinadaanan ng mga motorista natin, iwas disgrasya,” he said.

Before the installation, parts of the bridge were poorly lit at night, making travel more difficult and increasing the risk of accidents, according to residents.

Barangay officials also welcomed the project, saying it has improved safety for motorists using the bridge.

“Sa aming barangay, yung ilaw na naka-install diyan sa tulay napakaganda at maraming benepisyo. Alam mo kung bakit? Kasi po ‘yung mga motorista natin na dumadaan diyan, hindi na sila nakakapa sa dilim.” Barangay Embarcadero councilman Jesus Dispo said.

He added that the brighter roadway allows drivers to better see approaching vehicles from a distance.

“Talagang maliwanag siya, ang kagandahan nun, kahit malayo ka pa lang, nakikita mo na rin mga sasakyan papasok at palabas,” Dispo said.
