Barangay Lasip in Calasiao, Pangasinan has installed new streetlights and CCTV cameras along a newly opened access road to improve safety and ease travel for residents, officials said.

The barangay installed more than 50 streetlights along a 600-meter access road, which officials said was built to help ease traffic along the main highway.

The project, which cost over P300,000, aims to provide a safer and brighter route for motorists and pedestrians, especially at night.

“Mahalagang tulong po ito kasi halimbawa ma-traffic na po sa main road sa highway, puwede na rin po silang dumaan dito na parang access road po. Halimbawa, gabi po, maliwanag na dito,” Barangay Lasip Captain Dante Fernandez said.

Salome Decena, a resident, said the improved lighting also helped improve their sense of safety.

“Maganda talaga syempre maliwanag saka makikita mo lahat,” she said.

Aside from streetlights, the barangay also installed 16 new CCTV cameras in various areas to strengthen security coverage in the community. The CCTV project also cost more than P300,000.

Fernandez said the cameras were placed at entry and exit points to help monitor incidents and improve response during emergencies.

“Kasi lahat ng papasok at palabas nilagyan po namin kasi halimbawa kung may anumang insidente, magagamit para matingnan po lahat,” he said.

The barangay also plans to repair 26 damaged CCTV cameras from the previous year to further improve surveillance and public safety.
