At least 27 couples who are employees of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Northern Mindanao (BJMP-10) tied the knot in a mass wedding in Iligan City.

The wedding took place at the St. Michael's Cathedral with 27 brides making a memorable entrance, riding the city's iconic horse-drawn kalesas to the church.

It was organized by BJMP-10 to solemnize the union of personnel who have long been living with their partners.

BJMP said this is the first time that a mass wedding was held for jail personnel. In the past, the bureau organized a mass wedding for persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).

“Actually, this is a personal commitment because I do believe, as a person and as the head of the BJMP Region 10, that once we have a very strong family ties, [they] could lead to a strong organization,” BJMP-10 Director, Chief Supt. Felixberto Jagorin Jr., said.
