Persons under police custody (PUPC) at Mandaue Police Station 1 spent time outside of their detention cells while a cleanup was facilitated with the use of a firetruck of the Mandaue City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office on November 15, 2023.

The disinfection was undertaken after the death of a male PUPC on November 11, 2023 who reportedly complained of difficulty in breathing.

The detention facility holds 65 PUPCs currently which is deemed congested.

The PUPCs are still waiting for their commitment order before their transfer to the city jail.

A medical check-up on PUPCs was also carried out as well as a distribution of medicines and vitamins.

Police Colonel Maribel Getigan, Mandaue City Police Director, seeks to have the cleanup and medical check-up done on a regular basis in all stations in the city.
