‘Santa Claus’ delivered gifts anew to remote barangays near Mt. Isarog in the Upper Lugsad, Calabanga, and Upper Panicuason areas of Naga City.
Several families and children received presents, including toys, clothing, and food on December 23, 2023.
Referred to as "Santa Hike," the activity has been a tradition since the year 2000, taking place every December. The group led by Jojo Villareal hikes to different areas near Mt. Isarog to bring gifts to those residing near the mountain.
Twelve participants, along with five groups led by Villareal, joined the Santa Hike this year. They have reached approximately 100 families and children.
Some donations came from various groups and individuals. The organizers plan to continue the initiative throughout the week with more activities.
Villareal emphasized that their role is like that of a bridge or a tool to share blessings with the residents of Mt. Isarog.
Isarog," he added.
Villareal and his companions hope that through the effort, the government would notice the needs of those living in far-flung barangays and extend assistance to them.
