Sixty-seven street vendors secured new stalls and livelihood kits from DOLE-Bicol at the newly opened 'Pagkaing Oragon' market at Tektone Village near the pier in Legazpi City, Albay.
These vendors were the first to be provided with employment after the closure of 'Happy Lane' in Barangay Tinago, which used to serve as their main marketplace.
The DOLE took immediate action to find a suitable location for the vendors after the closure of 'Happy Lane.'
"We put up kakanan sa daungan na mababa ang presyo, malinig na ang mga pasahero pag-abot, may kakaunan na," Imelda Romanelios, Assistant Regional Director of DOLE Bicol, said.
Similar programs were also initiated in other provinces in the Bicol Region.
