On February 12, 2024, two days before Valentine’s Day, veteran talk show host Boy Abunda shared his thoughts on love and relationships, moments after he renewed his contract with GMA Network. 

“Love is tough,” Abunda told GMA Regional TV News.

Asked about the greatest lesson love has taught him, thus far, the multi-awarded host answered with a witty remark.

“Whatever love has taught me, I certainly did not understand,” he said before bursting slightly into a giggle. 

He took a deliberate pause and continued, “What I know from experience is that love does not impose. It does not demand. Love just forgives. Of course, that’s aside from all the joy that it brings to your life.” 

Abunda also shared a tip on what someone who has just fallen in love for the first time must keep in mind.

“Show up. Be ready for joy and for pain,” he said with conviction.

Borrowing one of his popular lines from his show, he was asked, “Mahal mo o mahal ka?” 

His immediate response, “mahal ko.”

Now in his second year since returning to the Kapuso Network, Abunda promised to continue doing his daily show, ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,’ “with gratitude, and with love.”
