Evidence of civilization that thrived in the Province of Bohol approximately tens of thousands of years ago can be found in Lamanok Point, Municipality of Anda.

Pieces of evidence include hematite paintings on a rock wall believed a gathering site.

Cultural interpreter Gonzalo Gultiano, a retired member of the Navy, said that the hand paintings could mean “we are here” or “we are present” as a way of recording attendance to an assembly.

Paint pigments came mostly from rock minerals such as iron distinct for its ochre hue, plant juices, and animal blood.

The petrographs have been verified by the National Museum of the Philippines as prehistoric rock paintings.
