A graduate of West Visayas State University (WVSU) in Iloilo City ranked ninth in the April 2024 Physicians Licensure Examination.

Mary Angelie Cardente Cabañez, from Banga town in the Province of Aklan, who placed first in the 2017 Nurses Licensure Exam, scored 87 percent to settle on ninth spot.

The WVSU, in a post, said that its community is again immensely proud of Cabañez' achievement.

“With 3,434 examinees, she secured an impressive 9th place with a rating of 87.00%. This accomplishment adds to her legacy, having previously clinched the top spot in the 2017 Philippine Nursing Licensure Exam. The WVSU community is immensely proud of your achievement! Basta Taga-West, the best!” the post reads.

The WVSU College of Medicine also recorded a 100-percent passing rate for its 22 first-time takers, the post also said.

Cabañez took up her secondary education at the Regional Science High School for Region VI. in Kalibo, Aklan.
