Three medical graduates from Cebu, Iloilo, and Bicol bring pride to their respective alma maters by emerging as some of the best in the April 2024 Physicians’ Licensure Examination’s (PLE).

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released on April 18 the results of the first of two med board exams in 2024, and three top-ranking takers hail from schools in the regions, headlined by Cebuano topnotcher Christopher Duane Mendoza from the Matias H. Aznar Memorial College of Medicine.

Mendoza topped the exams with a total rating of 89.25%.

Ninth on the list is Iloilo pride Marie Angelie Cabañez, a West Visayas State University - La Paz graduate, garnering a total score of 87%. Notably, the Ilongga achiever also made waves in 2017 when she emerged as the overall top-scorer in the nursing licensure exam during that year.   

Elica Yem Arcilla of Bicol University - Daraga placed tenth overall with an 86.92% exam rating.

The top ten takers in the April 2024 PLE are as follows:

6 – Vergel Jigs Enriquez University of Santo Tomas 87.67

7 – Fatima Ericka Vista University of the Philippines Manila 87.17

8 – Eryll Paolo Alea University of Santo Tomas 87.08

The April 2024 PLE saw 1,906 passers from a total of 3,434 takers, good for a 55.5% passing rate. 

University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (UERM-MMC) emerged as the top-performing institution (50 or more takers) with an 89.23% passing rate (58 out of 65). UST, meanwhile, logged in 56 passers out of its 66 takers for an 84.85% passing rate.
