In an effort to revive a long-standing tradition, the traditional summer activity of flying kites was highlighted with a kite flying competition in the town of San Vicente, Camarines Norte.

The event was part of the Mananap Festival of the town, with the aim of continuing it in future celebrations.

A total of 15 participants took part in the competition, each given the opportunity to showcase their unique designs.

Criteria included size, beauty, and creativity, with a significant percentage allocated for the highest and most impressive flights.

The local government hopes for increased participation in similar activities in the coming years.

“Ito po ay gawin nating taunan, yung mga tradisyon at kultura natin, muli nating ibabalik,” Vice Mayor Vivian Villamor, said.
