Versatile leading man Alden Richards and royalty couple Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, who had very productive and highly successful film projects in 2023, lead the contingent of GMA Network artists who are to be recognized at the 52nd Box Office Entertainment Awards.
The awarding body, organized by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation (GMMSF), announced the full list of winners on their social media platforms and will hold the ceremony on May 12 at the Henry Lee Theater Ateneo De Manila University.
BOX OFFICE STARS
‘Asia’s Multimedia Star’ Alden Richards is named the Box Office King for his performance in the hit romance-drama film, “Five Breakups and a Romance” (2023), where he starred with Julia Montes.
Richards will receive the award alongside counterpart Kathryn Bernardo, who was named the Box Office Queen.
Meanwhile, ‘Kapuso Primetime King and Queen’ Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera-Dantes are also taking home top honors as this year’s Box Office Phenomenal Stars of Philippine Cinema, a well-deserved commendation after “Rewind,” an official Metro Manila Film Festival 2023 entry, broke box office records.
At present, “Rewind” stands as the highest grossing Filipino film of all time, surpassing Alden Richard’s 2019 blockbuster “Hello, Love, Goodbye” (2019) in late January 2024.
Dantes is also given the Film Actor of the Year award, which he shares with fellow multi-awarded actor Piolo Pascual.
GMA PRIME AND AFTERNOON PRIME DOMINATION
Award-winning GMA Prime and Afternoon Prime series also dominate the Box Office Entertainment Awards, claiming all four major individual recognitions.
Dennis Trillo and Barbie Forteza (“Maria Clara at Ibarra,” 2022-2023) won Primetime TV Drama Actor and Actress of the Year, respectively.
“Abot-Kamay na Pangarap” (2022-present) stars Richard Yap and Jillian Ward, meanwhile, are this year’s Daytime TV Drama Actor and Actress of the Year.
