The streets of Mangatarem in Pangasinan lit up with vibrant colors as the town celebrated its annual Tupig Festival, featuring a farmers parade and street dancing event.
The local government organized the parade to honor the bountiful harvest of farmers and showcase the town's rich food culture.
The event is part of the town’s month-long festival, which runs until February 2, 2025 with traditional games and more activities still to come.
"Ipinagmamalaki namin 'yung aming tupig na galing sa aming palayan para matulungan namin ang mga magsasaka," Rachelle Cabornay, Senior Tourism Operations Officer of Mangatarem, said.
Tupig is a traditional Filipino delicacy made from sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves and cooked over an open flame. It is often filled with coconut, sugar, or other ingredients.
