Nora Aunor, the Superstar of Philippine movies, has died on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the age of 71.

Her son, actor Ian De Leon, announced her passing on Facebook.

"She was the heart of our family—a source of unconditional love, strength, and warmth. Her kindness, wisdom, and beautiful spirit touched everyone who knew her. She will be missed beyond words and remembered forever," he wrote.

He expressed his love further for his mother in another post.

"We love you Ma.. alam ng Diyos kung gano ka namin ka mahal.. pahinga ka na po Ma.. nandito ka lang sa puso at isipan namin," he said.

Aunor's daughter, Matet De Leon, also shared the news on Instagram. She shared photos of them during her wedding.

"I love you mommy," she wrote.

Aunor was named National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts in 2022. She was known for her iconic roles in the films "Himala," "Bona," and "Minsa'y Isang Gamu-gamo."

Her last films include "Mananambal" where she starred with Bianca Umali and "Pieta" where she starred with Alfred Vargas.

She appeared in the GMA Afternoon Prime series "Lilet Matias: Attorney-at-Law," starring Jo Berry. The two of them worked previously together in the 2018 Kapuso series "Onanay."
