A teacher who served during #Eleksyon2025 shared a video and photographs on the ordeal they went through to reach the farthest polling precinct in Libacao town, Province of Aklan.

Benedick Zaspa shared how members of the Electoral Board carried the election paraphernalia while crossing a river, with the assistance of  personnel from the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Army.

According to Sir Ben, who served as chairperson, it took them 16 hours by foot and two hours via motorcycle-for-hire ride to reach Sitio Maytaraw in Barangay Dalagsaan, a far-flung barangay in Libacao.

They had to endure the hot weather and the sudden rainfall, he said.

“Syempre, if makita mo ang kasama mo is exhausted na sa byahe or sa paglalakad, parang ma-gain mo ang negative vibes. Pero if positive ang isa, then positive naman ang the rest,” Teacher Ben said.

In 2022, he said that they were the first in Libacao town to transmit election returns during the Presidential elections, but in the May 2025 midterm elections, they came in last because of challenges in power supply.

Teacher Ben said he hopes that prior to the next election, the welfare of teachers assigned in remote, mountain barangays would be a priority in the discussion.
