Two-year-old Gellian from Barangay Pantal, Dagupan City continues to fight after undergoing four major surgeries on her intestines, with at least two more to go.

Her family, overwhelmed by mounting hospital costs, is begging for help.

Her mother, Avegel Aclito, shared that Gellian was born in October 2022 and grew up normally until June 2024 when her stomach began to swell and she could no longer pass stool.

She underwent her first operation on July 15, 2024, where doctors removed her intestines.

Since then, the little girl has had three more surgeries.

The most recent on June 18, 2025 left her intestines outside her body, relocated to her side, so she can defecate through a stoma.

Despite her weakened body, her family says Gellian remains strong-willed.

“Yung panglima, aayusin puwet niya. Yung nagli-leak, tatapalan ng laman yung butas,” Avegel said.

She said two more surgeries are planned to restore normal function.

Dagupan City Health Officer, Dr. Ma. Julita De Venecia, said continued medical intervention remains crucial.

“Surgical. Mas maganda na i-refer sa surgeon para maoperahan,” she said.

Avegel, whose husband works as a fisherman, admits their family is struggling financially.

“Gusto kong humingi ng tulong. Kahit simpleng tulong para sa anak ko,” she pleaded.

Barangay health workers have monitored Gellian’s condition since birth and continue to offer support.

“Kahit konting tulong po, malaking bagay na sa kanila. Lalo na sa operasyon na haharapin nila,” Rosanie Quisora, a barangay health worker, said.

As Gellian recovers from her latest surgery, her family holds on to hope and prayer, reaching out for any help that can give their brave little girl a second chance at a normal life.
