The Philippines struck a proud note on the global stage as Band 94 Pandacaqui from Mexico, Pampanga earned a Gold Rating and Outstanding Award at the 2025 Malaysia International Felda Band & Orchestra Festival (MIFBOF) held in Kuala Lumpur.
Band 94 Pandacaqui, a youth marching band from Mexico, Pampanga, showcased their talent at the prestigious MIFBOF 2025, competing against over 20 bands from three Southeast Asian countries.
Their performance stood out for its discipline, musicality, and cultural pride. This earned them top honors in the open division.
The band brought with them a strong sense of identity alongside their instruments. As part of their set, they performed the Kapampangan folk song “Atin Ku Pung Singsing.”
“Our aim is to bring Kapampangan culture through music po talaga. Para marinig sa international stage ang folk song na ‘Atin Ku Ping Singsing,’” Allein Canlas, Director of Band 94 Pandacaqui, said.
Their heartfelt performance moved both the audience and judges, with their aim to prove that Filipino talent, when paired with cultural authenticity, can make waves internationally.
“Alay po namin ito sa mga kabataan… Ginagawa po namin ito as part of our advocacy para sa mga kabataan na may mararating tayo sa music,” Canlas added.
