GMA Pictures’ “Green Bones” continues to receive well-deserved acclaim as it racks up 10 nominations at the 73rd Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards.
The prestigious award-giving body announced the complete list of nominations for its 2025 edition last August 11, with GMA Pictures' inspirational drama being one of the list’s obvious standouts as it got multiple nods across the board.
GMA Pictures’ entry to the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival last December, “Green Bones” is a nominee for the following awards: Best Picture, Best Director (Zig Dulay), Best Actor (Dennis Trillo), and Best Supporting Actor (Ruru Madrid) and Best Supporting Actress (Alessandra De Rossi), Best Editing, Best Screenplay, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound, and Best Musical Score.
This, after the Zig Dulay film also scored major wins at the MMFF 2024 Gabi ng Parangal where it swept the Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best Child Performer prizes.
During the 3rd Gawad Dangal Filipino Awards in January 2025, “Green Bones” also won Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actor; while also taking home Best Picture, Best Cinematography, Best Director, and both male acting awards at the 8th EDDYs just recently.
Green Bones is a powerful family drama brought to life by GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs in collaboration with Brightburn Entertainment, which follows the moral dilemma of a prison officer named Xavier Gonzaga (Ruru Madrid) as he determinedly tries to keep convicted murderer Domingo Zamora (Dennis Trillo) in prison.
Socially relevant themes of justice and redemption against the ever-resilient backdrop of poverty and corruption in the Philippines are the movie's main thrust.
The 73rd FAMAS Awards will hold its awarding ceremony on August 22 at the Manila Hotel.
