A 55-year-old woman from Baguio City is eyeing a spot in the Guinness World Records with her handmade giant mandala crochet, the largest of its kind in the world.
Adelaida Guia, who began crocheting during the pandemic, created the piece measuring 28 square meters, or almost six meters in diameter. It weighs 32 kilograms and took her 67 days to complete.
Because of Guinness guidelines, Adelaida could not be interviewed. Instead, her husband, Philip, said her hobby grew from small projects to larger ones until she decided to attempt a record-breaking piece.
The couple hopes the creation will be recognized as the world’s largest mandala crochet, a recognition they believe would bring pride not only to their family but also to Baguio City, its art community, and the Philippines.
