Carrying only hope for his family and the strength of his feet, 53-year-old Julito Mesa, now known online as the “Walker Vlogger of the Philippines,” has captured the attention of many Filipinos as he walks across provinces to provide for his loved ones.

Mesa began his journey in 2024, walking from Samar to Manila after struggling to find work. He said his choice to walk was born out of hardship.

“Kahirapan po, walang pambili ng bigas. Eh lahat ng interview, yan ang sinasabi ko, walang pambili ng makain. Pag sumuko ako, patay ang pamilya ko,” Mesa said.

What started as a way to survive has now become a popular online adventure.

Mesa’s videos of his long-distance walks attract thousands of viewers, and with growing support, he continues to take on bigger challenges.

From Luzon to Mindanao, his treks have become a symbol of persistence.

“Maganda, maganda. Maganda ang pagtanggap ng Region 2 at Region 1. Hindi ko akalain na ganito,” Mesa said.

He was welcomed warmly by locals during his recent stop in Ilocos Sur.

His journeys are no small feat. Mesa once walked from Samar to Cagayan in more than two months, and from Baguio City to General Santos City in over three months. Just late September 2025, he was spotted in Candon, Ilocos Sur, on his way back home to Samar.

Mesa is no longer walking alone. Since August, Richie Panaligan has joined him after following his adventures online.

“Mula noong pumasok siya ng Region 2, palagi kong pinapanood. Ngayon kasama na ako sa kaniya. Support kami sa kaniya kasi mabait siya,” Panaligan said.

Backed by his family, Panaligan plans to walk with Mesa until Bicol, his hometown.

Mesa’s story shows that even in the face of hardship, determination and resourcefulness can lead not only to survival, but also to inspiration for others.
