The Cebuanos have always nurtured a heart full of thanks despite challenges, of sorts.

Cebuanos who live towns away from Bogo City, which means they are victims also of the powerful earthquake that rocked the province on September 30, 2025, remain to have plenty of things to share and an abundance of gratitude despite their predicament.

“Bisan pa man sa kalisod nga ilang giatubang, gipili gihapon nila nga ipadayag ang pagpasalamat — pinaagi sa usa ka thank you, paghatag ug bibingka, pagpagamit sa CR [comfort room] for free, ug paghatag ug lubi,” said Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro through her post on “Pam Baricuatro - The People’s Governor” page.

Baricuatro underscored that every corporal work of mercy, no matter how small, determines the true character of Visayans.

“Sa matag gamay nga buhat sa kalooy, makita ang tinuod nga batasan sa Bisaya — mapasalamaton, matinabangon, ug puno sa kasingkasing,” the post added.

She said further that gratitude and the eagerness to help is innate among Cebuanos.

“Ang pagpasalamat dili lang buhat, kundili kinaiya. Bisan unsa kalisod, ang Cebuano magpabiling mapasalamaton ug andam motabang,” Baricuatro added.
