Kapuso artist, scout ambassador, and native to northern Cebu Shuvee Etrata comes home to take part in the distribution of relief goods to victims of the magnitude 6.9 earthquake.
Shuvee provided both essential items and inspiring words to affected residents reeling from the impact of the deadly tremor.
In a program at San Remigio town, she handed over assistance to boy scouts affected by the quake, as well as to teachers. She went around areas hit severely by the powerful earthquake.
According to Shuvee, she has been worried since she learned of the impact of the earthquake to her home province, especially in northern Cebu where she is from.
“Yung nangyari po ‘yun kinumusta ko family ko sa Bantayan knowing San Remigio very malapit lang sa Bantayan kung ano pwede mangyari sa kanila, and then upon knowing na they’re okay ‘dun ako nag-extend ng help sa taga-Bogo, San Remigio…nakakalungkot, nakakaiyak, pero I believe naman talaga in the resilience of Cebuanos,” Shuvee underscored.
Recently, Shuvee was chosen as Scout Ambassador of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, a post that comes with plenty of responsibilities to attend to, beneficial activities to perform, and demands to respond to.
She is thankful she is able to help from her level best.
“Specially right now, I believe the youth have the power to change their future. I’m just here to inspire them to do good like me helping here, extending my helping hand not for a show but to inspire them na in times na kaya na nila because that’s how scouts are,” she elucidated.
Shuvee distributed relief goods in other parts of northern Cebu such as in Barangay Kawit in Medellin town.
According to Shuvee, it gives her deep pride to be able to give back to fellow Sugbuanons, especially in dire times; Sugbuanons who have been supportive of her career as an artist of GMA Network, Inc.
“I believe in the Cebuano people. I believe in their kindness, balita gani nako na yung dumating ang earthquake, people from the south, from the city pumunta at nag-traffic pa talaga. It makes my heart warm, makes my heart so happy knowing na Cebuano ko, maka-proud. Isa ko na Cebuano ba na ‘wow, mao ni ako gidak-an (yan ang aking kinalakihan),” Shuvee exclaimed.
