Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the BJMP–Roxas District Jail in Oriental Mindoro observed Undas by lighting candles and offering prayers for their departed loved ones.

For many inmates, the solemn activity served as a rare moment of reflection and spiritual connection to their families and faith.

BJMP MIMAROPA spokesperson Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo said the observance gives PDLs a way to honor their loved ones even while separated by prison walls.

“Even behind these walls, their prayers carry the warmth of love and the ache of longing for those they have lost. In every whispered prayer, no soul is ever truly forgotten,” he said.

Inside the facility, inmates arranged candles and whispered prayers, transforming the jail into a quiet sanctuary of remembrance. For them, each candle represented hope, love, and the memory of family.

For Anglo, it is a reminder that faith can endure even in confinement.

He added that the observance is part of the Bureau’s continuing effort to provide emotional and spiritual support for PDLs, helping them find meaning and peace while serving time.
