A dog who was swept away by floodwater in Cebu City was able to find its way home two weeks after the onslaught of Typhoon Tino.
The owner considers the return of the dog as good karma, which could have been because he rescued a woman up an electric post from raging floodwater.
Emmanuel Llenos said he rejoices upon the return of Haven, his Asong Pinoy (Aspin) who found its way back to Villa del Rio in Barangay Bacayan, Cebu City.
Emmanuel said they were not able to attend to Haven during the intense flooding on November 4, 2025 as he and his wife struggled to move to the third floor of their neighbor's house, tagging along the smaller dogs.
When the flood subsided, sadness came over the couple as Haven was nowhere to be found. They went around looking for Haven and posted on social media about the missing dog, hoping for leads to his whereabouts.
Emmanuel's family transferred to another place because of the damage the flood has caused to their house. Yet, they kept coming back to check if Haven had come home.
Days wore on and there was no trace of Haven.
However, on the third time Emmanuel went back to their flooded house for an interview with GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak, Haven was already there waiting for him, its feet coated in mud.
Emmanuel said he considers the return of Haven as good karma after he rescued a woman. He said he does not know how to swim but because he pitied that the woman would be swept away by the flood, he looked for a way to rescue her.
He admitted feeling some guilt after the incident because his 74-year-old mother and his child were calling for help as well, at that time, but he proceeded to help the woman hanging on to the electric post first.
He said he prayed hard that his decision was the best at that moment. His mother and child are both safe from the deluge.
