In transforming the national costume into a visual storyteller, renowned Cebuana fashion designer Axel Que, prominent for her elaborate creations that break boundaries, has taken inspiration from Nephthys to gloss up Miss Universe Egypt 2025 Sabrina Erian’s national costume.
In a post, Que said that she is inspired by Nephthys, enigmatic Egyptian goddess of death and protection.
“This couture creation transcends costume—it’s a spectacle of divine craftsmanship and sculptural grace,” she said.
The look of Miss Egypt 2025’s national costume opens with a “bejeweled bodice, an opulent tapestry of hand-strung beads and gemstones that shimmer in celestial hues.”
Que pointed out that sapphire, amethyst, and onyx glint under the light, tracing regal patterns that “evoke the protective wings of the goddess herself.”
“Each embellishment is meticulously arranged, transforming the torso into a living mosaic of devotion and power,” Que elucidated.
Extending from the arms, the architectural wing pieces “unfurl in hypnotic symmetry, crafted from metallic jacquard meticulously hand-cut into hundreds of pleats.”
As the Nile is deemed cradle of Egyptian civilization, Que made sure that the fabric bears the body of water that feeds life to Egypt.
“The interplay of royal blue, fuchsia, violet, and gold creates a dazzling gradient of jewel tones—an echo of twilight over the Nile rendered in fabric,” she added.
As wings are powerful symbols of a range of concepts, including freedom, spirituality, and transcendence, Que made sure that these are pronounced in the national costume.
“These wings, both commanding and fluid, give the illusion of flight—Nephthys in mid-transcendence,” she underscored.
The train speaks explicitly of grandeur and drama. Que has presented skillfully through the train the power of both motion and emotion.
“A dramatic, cascading train trails behind, amplifying the gown’s divine silhouette and sense of motion,” she added.
A huge admirer of mythology, heritage and culture, and history herself, Que’s interests are incorporated to achieve balance in her craft.
“The result is an almost celestial equilibrium—where structure meets spirit, and mythology meets modern couture,” she added.
Overall, Que underscored that Miss Egypt 2025’s national costume is “Nephthys reimagined for the contemporary stage: a goddess reborn in pleated metals, beaded armor, and unapologetic majesty.”
