Mount Oten in Kibungan, Benguet is drawing attention from hikers and adventure seekers as a possible destination ahead of Valentine’s Day, with local officials promoting the mountain for its views and cool climate.

Mount Oten is the highest peak in Kibungan, standing about 1,980 meters above sea level. Locals say the mountain offers a peaceful atmosphere at the summit, along with panoramic views of the Cordillera mountain range.

The trail includes steep paths and cliff-side sections, which can be challenging, especially for hikers with a fear of heights. Despite this, climbers say reaching the peak is a fulfilling experience.

Mount Oten is part of the so-called Kibungan Circuit, a group of mountain trails known for their Switzerland-like scenery. The mountain is named after the oten trees, or tree-of-heaven, which commonly grow in the area.

Local tourism officials said the site is suitable for hiking, camping, and backpacking. They advised visitors to coordinate with the Kibungan local government and tourism office to ensure proper guidance and safety.
