Thousands of residents and visitors gathered in Mangaldan, Pangasinan to celebrate the Pindang Festival 2026, highlighted by a massive street grilling event showcasing the town’s famous cured meat.
The celebration, called “Kalutan, Tugtugan tan Sayawan ed Dalan,” filled Rizal Avenue with rows of grills as participants cooked pindang, the town’s One Town One Product.
Around 500 grills were lined up along the street, where families and friends gathered to grill tapa or pindang at the same time. Aside from cured beef, participants also grilled shellfish, sausages and pork during the festivities.
For many residents, the event served as a chance to reconnect with loved ones and celebrate together.
“Pinakamasaya ngayon ang saya ng Pindang Festival, marami kaming iniihaaw ngayon,” Lorie Visperas, one of the participants, said.
Another participant, Eden Sioco, said their group prepared several grilled dishes during the gathering.
“Ito nagluluto kami ng barbeque, hotdog, mga shells, masarap itong iniihaw namin,” Sioco said.
After the street grilling activity, the celebration continued with a street party where participants enjoyed music and dancing.
Local officials said the annual festival aims to promote Mangaldan’s well-known pindang while bringing the community together through food and festivities.
