A giant sweet treat stole the spotlight at Candon City’s 2026 Calamay Festival, as over 1,800 kilograms of the sticky rice delicacy wowed locals and visitors alike.
The calamay, measuring 10 square meters, was crafted by around 100 volunteers. Festival-goers enjoyed different flavors, including classic, white, peanut, pandan, and ube.
The Candon City local government said the giant calamay is the largest ever made for the festival, now in its second year. Portions of the sweet rice cake were freely distributed to attendees.
