An immensely talented ensemble of powerful female artists possesses all there is to conquer any stage. When looking to pinpoint what makes precisely these Queens special, it can be quite a challenge to know where to start. The charismatic sextet of Julie Anne San Jose, Rita Daniela, Jessica Villarubin, Hannah Precillas, Thea Astley, and Mariane Osabel, popularly known as the ‘Queendom,’ will let their onstage performance do all the necessary introduction. Still, it would be fun to dig deep into the record books and get to know the competitions they aced before their reign as the Kapuso Network’s vocal Queens.

SWEET LITTLE MEMBERS OF 'SUGARPOP'

Julie Ann San Jose and Rita Daniela were absolute naturals, kicking off their already illustrious careers even before hitting their teenage years. The two got introduced to the grand stage of music 18 years ago when pre-teens Rita and Julie Ann sang side by side as batchmates during the pilot season of the now-defunct reality talent show, Pop Star Kids. Rita ultimately won the contest, becoming the show’s pioneer singing champ, while Julie Ann would settle for third place. The two, however, would go on to form the young and talented singing group ‘SugarPop’ together with three other co-finalists in Enzo Almario, Vanessa Rangadhol, and Cholo Bismonte. This early exposure is very telling of how Queen Rita and Queen Julie Ann have always been intentionally prolific with their musical careers right from the get-go.

A CULTURE OF SINGING AND WINNING

Jessica Villarubin, Mariane Osabel, Thea Astley, and Hannah Precillas may be young in their music and showbiz careers, but they have definitely shown why they are more than deserving to be crowned as ‘Queens.’ Jessica, Mariane, and Thea have had their fair share of rich and rewarding experiences in the Kapuso reality talent program, ‘The Clash, as the first two dominated the tournament during their individual stints, being hailed as ‘The Clash’ champions during the third and the fourth seasons, respectively. Thea, 22, Queendom’s youngest, placed second in its 2019 edition.

Meanwhile, Boholana Hannah Precillas is a powerhouse diva with a powerful voice who won the 2014 Kapuso talent show, “Bet ng Bayan.”

Notably, these four divas represent proudly the Filipina singing prowess in various cultural capacities. Jessica and Hannah have Visayan roots: Jessica hails from San Fernando, Cebu, while Hannah is a proud Boholana. Mariane was born in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte, but went to Saudi Arabi and stayed there for six years. Thea, though born in Quezon City, would move to Doha, Qatar and live there for a while before returning to the Philippines. It is as though fate really had her plans set for these Queens to get their much-deserved break through various Kapuso talent competitions and ultimately form an incredibly talented Queendom with Julie Ann and Rita.

Prepare for a one-of-a-kind all-out performance as Queen Julie Ann, Queen Rita, Queen Jessica, Queen Mariane, Queen Hannah, and Queen Thea showcase their individual talents finely woven and embedded into one powerful Queendom. The All-Out Sundays divas will be having their first-ever concert together, ‘Queendom: Live,’ on December 2, 2023, Saturday, at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
