Lucky was born in Cebu City during the pandemic. It was hard at that time to visit a veterinarian because of the imposed lockdown.

His fur parents Romeo Buendia and Jaclyn Claire Limtin-Buendia said they had to search for a veterinarian who could perform surgery as Lucky's mom was on birthing due.

However, Lucky was born without a heartbeat. The veterinarian had to resuscitate him.

“That’s why we gave him the name Lucky as a reminder of that fighting chance at life,” says fur mom Jaclyn in an interview over GMA Regional TV Live!

Lucky is a Pomeranian dog who wowed the panel of judges in the World Dog Show Gran Prix in Geneva, Switzerland.

He was adjudged “Best of Breed” over 94 other Pomeranian dogs in the world.

Lucky carved his first international record: it was the first time for a Philippine-born Pomeranian to win the prestigious title.

The title is somewhat an equivalent of an international beauty pageant crown, Jaclyn pointed out.

“Two-year-old Lucky is a lucky charm,” his fur parents said.

Lucky received his obedience training in Manila.

He joined previous dog shows in the Philippines and bested the campaign championships too, but joining the world dog show was a first-time experience.

His “cuteness overload” charmed the judges when he displayed alertness and extra smartness during the rounds of screening and on to the final  competition.

“Importante molakaw gyud siya ug motan-aw sa judges kay anha man makita sa judges ang ka-alert,” Romeo said.

The couple shared that Lucky is obedient and lovable, among other great qualities of a dog.

“We just get to love them unconditionally, they will also love us in return unconditionally,” Jaclyn said.
