Around 75 hatchlings of endangered sea turtles were released successfully into the sea in Barangay Puting Buhangin, San Juan, Batangas, on December 20, 2023.
The release was organized by the 512th Coast Guard Auxiliary Squadron in collaboration with the Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog, Marine Environmental Protection Unit Southern Tagalog, Coast Guard Sub Station San Juan, and officials of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office.
The collaborative effort aims to promote the conservation of sea turtles by involving the local community.
Residents are encouraged to report sightings of sea turtle eggs to the Pawikan Patrollers in the barangay.
