The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued 12 passengers, including children and infants, from a submerged motor banca in the waters off Dapitan City on Sunday, January 7, 2024.

Members of the Coast Guard Station-Zamboanga del Norte saw the submerged vessel by chance while on their way back to Dapitan City from Selinog Island and immediately conducted rescue operation.

The 12 passengers, including two infants and two children aged three and four, were all brought to safety and were turned over to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer of Dapitan for medical assistance.
