Four people died after the vehicle they were riding fell into a 100-meter ravine in Barnagay Gunyan, Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte.
The fatalities were identified as Vincent Tomang, 50; Criselda Dela Peña, 40; Telita Dela Peña Francisco, 70; and the driver Ronilo Dela Peña, 53. The victims are all relatives.
“Nahulog sila sa may shouldering sa right side, pag-aksyon og saka, kay medyo elevated man gud ang right side, na-notice siguro sa driver, mikabig siya pa-left, mibawi siya. Pagbawi niya, nadiretso siya sa pangpang na gyud,” Siayan Municipal Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Captain Angelo Acuzar, said.
Investigators said the victims were on their way home when the incident happened. Because of the impact, the victims were thrown out of the vehicle.
Police reminded the public to always check the vehicle before traveling to prevent road accidents.
“They must check the brakes, ‘yung BLOWBAGETS (battery, lights, oil, water, brake, air, gas, engine, tire, and self) natin, kung mahimo pa, doble ingat,” Acuzar added.
