A van driver died after his vehicle collided with a tanker truck on Roman Highway in Barangay Calaylay, Abucay, Bataan.

According to the police, the two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions - the van was heading to Balanga City while the truck was heading to Samal - when the van reportedly veered to the opposite lane, colliding head-on with the truck.

"Itong tanker natin, going Samal, Bataan, north direction. Ito naman pong van natin is going Balanga city, south direction naman po, opposite lane sila. Pagdating po sa place of incident, walang kamalay-malay yung tanker, biglang kinain po nitong van itong lane ng approaching tanker kaya nagkaroon po ng head on collision. As a result po, naipit po yung driver [ng van] na ikinasawi po niya," PMAG Wingston Norte, the Chief of Police in Abucay MPS, said.

It took over 30 minutes for rescuers to free the bus driver's body from the wreckage.

The truck driver was unharmed.
